Manage custom user agents#

This page shows how to create your own user agent groups and attach them to a campaign, for when you want traffic to use exactly the browsers and devices you choose instead of letting the system generate them.

Manage groups at https://dash.9hits.com/campaigns/useragents (menu Campaigns, item User Agents). This feature is for the PREMIUM and VIP plans.

We recommend the system user agents

A fingerprint is built from a consistent set of data, not just the user-agent string. Unless testing custom user agents really works for you, we recommend using the system ones.

Create a group#

Click Add User Agent Group. To edit an existing group, click the pencil icon at the end of its row.

Field Description
Title A group name for you to recognize it by, up to 100 characters.
User Agent List One user agent string per line. Empty lines are removed when you save.
Browser Sizes Window size Width x Height (px); add sizes with Add size. At least one size is required.

Click Save to save.

Each visit that uses a group picks a random string and a random size from the group, independently of each other. So each group should hold only one device type, with sizes that match it: an iPhone string with a 1920x1080 window is a contradiction. Name groups after their content, for example Desktop Chrome Windows or Android phones, because the campaign form only shows group names.

The group list shows the number of strings (User Agents) and sizes (Sizes) in each group; check several rows and click Delete to delete them in bulk. Changes to a group can take about an hour to apply to campaigns.

Attach a group to a campaign#

In the campaign form, on the Platform tab:

  1. Drag the User Agent Source bar so the Custom part is greater than 0. This bar splits 100% between System (generated by the system), Fixed (each session keeps one fixed user agent) and Custom (your groups).
  2. In the Custom user-agents block that appears, check the groups you want to use and set a share for each one. The shares of the checked groups must add up to exactly 100%.

The other fields on this tab are covered in Campaign settings.
